Van der Brohe Arboretum offers a community green space for all to enjoy through recreation, nature and art.

The Van der Brohe Arboretum (VDBA) converted a former 65-acre golf course into an ecological center focused on providing an environment for the cultivation and display of the variety of tree types and species which will be suitable for the location in Two Rivers, WI.  The trees are displayed in meadows, and in migratory bird food plots, providing a rich diversity of value to the avian communities. The grounds offer many uses for visitors to enjoy recreation, birding, meditation, and relaxation.

Our Mission

A community green space for all to enjoy through recreation, nature and art.

Our mission is to conserve natural habitats and foster biodiversity, including a robust tree collection, by engaging the community in environmental stewardship, education, and artistic appreciation, ensuring a vibrant sanctuary for future generations.

The Van der Brohe Arboretum curates a tree museum in that it cares for and exhibits a range of trees of scientific and artistic interest. The founder incorporated areas of non-traditional plantings to investigate the impacts of climate fluctuation on each variety’s ability to survive. This increased bio-diversity cultivates a unique aesthetic for visitors to appreciate, while also gaining an understanding of the sustainability of a new species and other scientific studies of our environment.

The Van der Brohe Arboretum preserves habitat for birds and wildlife. Birds are inclusive of wildlife in recognition that robust ecosystems rely on biodiversity. Our habitat preservation efforts will be complimentary to healthy forest growth while also maintaining areas rich in shelter, food and other resources for local and migratory wildlife to flourish.

The Van der Brohe Arboretum emphasizes the development of artistic appreciation with intentional installments around the property, spaces such as our council ground to rest and reflect, and unique structural projects that add visual aesthetic and unique value. Additional spaces are maintained as open grassy areas (art nodes) designated for temporary displays and rotating exhibitions.

Education

The Van der Brohe Arboretum develops a diverse habitat suitable for a range of educational opportunities for all ages. We foster partnerships with community organizations who support the needs of the land while also gaining knowledge about the environment, wildlife and related topics. Experts are welcome to our property to share their individual knowledge in these areas and host groups for special talks, walks and other events. We also engage in community opportunities to educate the public about the arboretum and our habitat management.
